"The fourteen episodes of the series are listed below in the originally intended broadcast order, which is the same order used in the home media releases." Also says on the actual Firefly page that they were broadcast out of the intended order, "making the plot more difficult to follow", before the list of episodes.
In Jellyfin, the episodes showed up in aired order, even though the metadata was set to DVD. So, I changed the order to "Absolute", saved, and then back to DVD and saved. Now the episodes are appearing in DVD order, with "Serenity" being first. The problem is that when I click on media info for episode 1, it is still pointing to the Train Job file.

On disk, I have the first DVD-ordered episode (ie., Serenity) as firefly.s01e01.mkv. However, the thumbnail for it ends up as The Train Job (first aired episode). Or the production order: 1 - 10, and then Heart of Gold/Objects in Space/Trash/The Message. I don't know if it really matters, but people seem to have a strong opinion one way or another.
Firefly in dvd order on Kodi How do I correct the order of Firefly episodes? I did the export option which generated the .NFO files. I'm familiar with XML, I just don't know what to change so that it places them in the correct order.
These two timelines contain every official Firefly story that has been published thus far. I wanted to make a quick guide to help new fans understand what content there is beyond the TV series and the movie. Why are there two timelines? The current state of Firefly’s canon is messy. There are currently two companies publishing Firefly stories; Titan Books (novels) and Boom! Studios (comics ...
