Cooler temperatures and humidity are helping firefighters fight the fire, which nearly doubled in size since Monday afternoon.

Juniper Fire initially started today at 11:28 a.m. in Riverside County, California. Since its discovery nine hours ago, it has burned 689 acres. By Monday evening, a fire crew of 183 succeeded in containing 30% of the fire. However, the cause is still under investigation.

A quickly growing fire in Riverside County torched more than 500 acres of land and prompted evacuation orders on Monday, according to authorities. Dubbed the Juniper Fire, it was initially reported at 11:28 a.m. in unincorporated parts of Perris, near the area of Idaleona and Juniper roads, Cal Fire said .
