Germany is awaiting news on the severity of captain Giulia Gwinn's latest knee injury at the Women's European Championship.

Germany will without their influential captain Giulia Gwinn for the rest of women's Euro 2025 due to a left knee injury, which however is not as serious as initially feared. The national federation DFB on X said that an MRI scan in Zurich on Saturday revealed that Gwinn "suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to her left knee yesterday in the match against Poland.

The DFB captain suffered a severe knee injury during Germany's opening match against Poland. An inner ligament injury makes her further participation in the European Championship impossible.
