Britain and India clinched a long-coveted free trade pact on Tuesday after tariff turmoil sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump forced the two sides to hasten efforts to increase their trade in whisky,

The UK and India have agreed a trade deal to make it cheaper and easier to buy and sell goods and services to one another. The hope is that the deal will benefit the economies of both countries. The British government said the deal was the "biggest and most economically significant" trade agreement the UK had signed since leaving the European Union in 2020.

Britain and India on Tuesday agreed a “landmark” free trade agreement, which London claimed would boost the British economy by £4.8bn in the long run, with big cuts to Indian tariffs on UK exports of whisky and cars.
