Australia and Israel have taken diplomatic efforts against each other as tensions between the two nations over the war in Gaza grow.

Israel's prime minister has accused his Australian counterpart of having "betrayed Israel" and "abandoned" Australia's Jewish community, after days of growing strain between the two countries. Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that history would remember Anthony Albanese "for what he is: a weak politician".

French President Emmanuel Macron has denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remarks that Macron is fueling antisemitism by pledging to recognize a Palestinian state as "abject" and "erroneous.

The remarks came after Australia barred far-right Israeli politician Simcha Rothman, a member of Netanyahu’s coalition, from entering the country.

Netanyahu said in the letter that he recommended the Australian leader to follow in the footsteps of US President Donald Trump to combat antisemitism and to "replace weakness with action.
