"Starbase, Texas, is now a real city," said Elon Musk after a vote decided the future of his SpaceX workplace.

The area where Elon Musk's SpaceX company operates on the southern tip of Texas is to officially become a city called Starbase. Residents approved incorporating a patch of land as the new municipality in an election on Saturday.

Elon Musk's rocket launch site Starbase, home to his California-born company SpaceX, is on its way to becoming a Texas city after a small group of voters — mostly SpaceX workers — overwhelmingly approved it.
