Two Carnival Cruise Line passengers drowned Friday while swimming at the company's new Bahamas resort. Police said both were Americans.

Hurricane Erin, as of this writing, is a category 4 storm with max wind of 130 miles per hour. The storm continues to impact parts of the Bahamas as it spins in the Atlantic.

Even though Carnival Cruise Line has been hosting guests at its new private island in the Bahamas for less than a month, two guests have already died by drowning. Both deaths happened on Friday at Celebration Key — Carnival’s private island — and both incidents involved visitors in their 70s.

After being taken to a local clinic, the 63-year-old victim was then airlifted to the U.S. for further treatment, according to authorities
