Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has blasted Arsenal for their new £63 million signing Viktor Gyokeres, calling for supporters to temper their enthusiasm following the striker's lacklustre introduction to English football.

Rio Ferdinand has called for patience with Arsenal ’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker, who joined from Sporting CP in a £64million deal, was handed a start in Arsenal’s Premier League opener at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Sports Mole, Watts claimed that Arsenal's fellow attackers did Gyokeres no favours with their runs inside, but he also implored the Scandinavian to quickly adjust to life in the Premier League, where he cannot "bully" defences in the same way that he did in the Primeira Liga.
