North Dakota Democrat Rep. Liz Conmy was among two people killed in a small plane crash near Crystal Airport in a Minneapolis suburb Saturday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said the crash was reported around 11:08 a.m. near Ralston Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima. High-voltage powerlines were knocked down by the single-engine plane, which appeared to be a 2007 Cessna 172S Skyhawk, as it came down.

North Dakota state Rep. Liz Conmy died after a small plane crashed in Minnesota. The pilot also died. An investigation is underway.

Dr. Joseph Cass died in the Saturday, April 25, crash in Brooklyn Park, along with North Dakota state Rep. Liz Conmy. Minnesota Public Radio reports that the two were romantic partners.

A retired Mayo Clinic physician was the second victim of a Saturday airplane crash in Brooklyn Park that also killed a North Dakota lawmaker. Dr. Joseph Cass retired from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., in 2017, according to a Mayo Clinic Alumni Association article.

The National Transportation Safety Board says “extensive corrosion… consistent with exposure to a saltwater environment” caused both engines of a Bombardier Challenger 600 charter jet to stop working at virtually the same time,

A plane crash north of Chanute is under investigation by the Kansas Department of Transportation, and drivers in the area are advised to use caution.
