The FBI is investigating “suspicious activities” on an internal system that the bureau says contains sensitive information related to surveillance operations and investigations.
Reports indicate the two U.S. natives have been identified and arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation after allegedly deploying an improvised explosive device near the home of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
In November 2021, attackers compromised a system used by the FBI to send notifications from the Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal. They managed to send more than 100,000 fake warning emails about a supposed cyberattack. The emails appeared to come from legitimate FBI addresses and warned about attacks by the hacker group TheDarkOverlord.
