The United States on Tuesday extended its ban on flights to Haiti’s capital until Sept. 8 because of escalating gang violence, which the U.N.’s human rights expert on the Caribbean nation said is more dire than ever.

The Federal Aviation Administration is extending its ban on U.S. jetliners flying into Haiti’s capital until September.

The United States on Tuesday, March 11, banned flights to Haiti’s capitol Port-au-Prince. According to the US administration under the leadership of President Donald Trump, the move followed the worsening gang violence situation in Haiti.
