The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday in favor of Texas Republicans, allowing the state to proceed with next year’s elections using newly redrawn district maps. The decision comes after a lower court found the maps unconstitutional for allegedly sorting voters by race.

The Austin Democrat’s reelection plans have ping-ponged as the Legislature’s new congressional maps winded their way through the courts.
