The Republican governors of West Virginia, South Carolina and Ohio announced Saturday they will send National Guard troops to Washington, DC, in an escalation of President Donald Trump’s efforts to federally take over law enforcement in the city.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced on Saturday that he is deploying 200 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. The soldiers will assist federal law enforcement in restoring law and order to the District of Columbia.
Ohio, West Virginia and South Carolina have also deployed the Guard to Washington to support President Trump’s crackdown on the city.
