Ron Ely, the actor best known for his tole on the TV series "Tarzan," has died at the age of 86.

Ron Ely, the strapping Texan who found fame as television’s first Tarzan in the 1960s, died late last month at the California home of one of his daughters, she said on Wednesday.

Ron starred as the iconic character Tarzan on NBC from 1966 to 1968. He later appeared on other well-known shows including The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Wonder Woman.
