A prosecutor told jurors Monday that a Wisconsin judge said she would “take the heat” for directing an immigrant to dash through a private courtroom door while federal agents were trying to arrest him.
Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested by the FBI in April and charged in a two-count federal indictment, alleging she obstructed Department of Homeland officials and knowingly concealed a man from immigration authorities. She has pleaded not guilty.
The Justice Department says Hannah Dugan wasn’t above the law, while her defense team says she tried to follow courthouse policy.
