Gov. Andy Beshear increases death toll to 11. President Trump approved an emergency declaration in Kentucky Sunday after significant rainfall that flooded areas across the commonwealth.

The death toll from last week ’ s severe weather in Kentucky has risen to 21, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Saturday. The state was hit with deadly flooding amid freezing temperatures last weekend, which continued to devastate the central Plains as another storm system brought more heavy snow and wind.

During the briefing, Beshear referred to the flooding as a "painful, difficult disaster" and reiterated how this was one of the worst disasters to hit Kentucky in years as the death total has risen to 22.
