Kilauea's most recent eruption drew in flocks of visitors. Here's what travelers should know about the natural spectacle.

Lava Island will open to the public on Friday, making use of a vacant space once rumored to be an Amazon Fresh grocery store.

Cellphone showed the Kilauea volcano producing a fountain-like lava eruption with a twister-like plume of ash visible nearby.

The eruption was accompanied by a "volnado," or a tornado-like swirl of dust and ash caused by the contrast between the heated air near the lava and the cooler air.
