South Carolina women's basketball is up to three first place votes in the AP Top 25 after its first ranked win but is still second to UConn.
Connecticut, South, Carolina, UCLA and Texas remained the top four teams in the poll after relatively easy opening week wins. The defending champion Huskies received 30 first-place votes from a national media panel while the Gamecocks got the other two.
UConn remains the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 after a statement win against Ohio State, but No. 2 South Carolina also gained a lot of confidence after a convincing performance against USC on Saturday night.
The Broncos could now be the fourth-highest ranked presumed conference champion, giving them the inside path to the No. 4 seed in the 12-team bracket, should the CFP committee agree with the other polls.
