Khalil Bryan, the Orleans Parish jail inmate mistakenly released from the lockup in July, was arrested in a Houston suburb on Wednesday morning after nearly a month on the lam, authorities confirmed. A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said.
Bryan was mistakenly released from the Orleans Parish Jail on Friday, July 25, in what jail officials say was a clerical error. He was incorrectly released due to a misidentification between two individuals with a similar last name. The paramedic was hit at around 7 a.m. in the fire station parking lot at North Miro Street and Elysian Fields Avenue, according to NOEMS. The EMS crew was stationed there and awaiting a call when a car left the road and hit the man, seriously injuring him. NOEMS said he was in “fair condition” at a trauma center as of 10:19 a.m.
