A Powerball player just missed a massive jackpot prize — but still won big in North Carolina. The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the May 12 drawing, making it worth $50,000, results show. The winning numbers: white balls 15-16-41-48-60, with red Powerball 21.

The UNC athletic department said Miller died Sunday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. No cause of death was given. An athletic department spokesman said Miller was in hospice care and dealing with medical issues for some time.
