The UConn Huskies showed they are as good as advertised and became the clear No. 1 in the first CBS Sports women's college basketball power rankings of the 2025-26 season. However, the most surprising team so far is the USC Trojans, who climbed all the way to No. 6 this week after being ranked 17th in the preseason.

The first week of the women's college basketball season has officially wrapped up and now we have our first AP Top 25 of the regular season. While the top six teams remained the same, with reigning national champion UConn on top, there was movement elsewhere.
Stanford woke up in the second quarter Sunday and rolled past Gonzaga in Spokane and St. Mary's improved to 5-0 by beating Nevada in Moraga.
Destiny Howell scored a season-high 23 points and Breauna Ware posted 12 points and four assists for Wisconsin in a 76-72 win over UW-Green Bay.
TCU’s depth will get tested against NC State, especially inside the paint. Tilda Trygger, a 6-6 forward, will match up with TCU centers Clara Silva and Kennedy Basham, who both stand at 6-7. Trygger started 23 games last season and earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors.
