A common spiny fish, Lumpenus lampretaeformis, seeks shelter near rocks and red sea plants. The fish remains still during twilight hours to avoid predators in its North Atlantic habitat.

The Hobbs Hill-Beaty Park-Lakefront area is a popular habitat for many owls; our residents frequently have the more common Barred Owls in their yards, particularly those with large, mature trees, where they prefer to roost. And occasionally we even have the more rare Great Horned Owl, the largest owl in this region and known to be fiercely territorial. A resident recently had 2 calling to each other from opposite ends of their property; here’s a brief clip of one’s call (SOUND UP!). While the Ba
