Tomatoes flew through the air as the Gran Tomatina Colombia food-fight festival returned to Colombia. People threw overripe and damaged tomatoes at each other, covering the streets in red juice and pulp. The festival, inspired by Spain’s La Tomatina, was held in Sutamarchán, about 170 kilometers north of Colombia’s capital, Bogotá. This was the 15th time the event took place, returning after a long break. “It’s a way to celebrate Sutamarchán’s tomato economy,” said Mayor Miguel Andrés Rodríguez.
