They strengthen your glutes, hamstrings, and lower back while teaching a proper hip hinge -which carries over to lifts like RDLs, deadlifts, and squats. Focus on a soft bend in the knees, push the hips back, and control the stretch. Your posterior chain (and your lower back) will get a lot stronger.
