Today marks the birthday of Mykola Leontovych — a Ukrainian composer whose music changed the sound of Christmas forever. One of his works traveled far beyond Ukraine and became known to the world as Carol of the Bells. But its original name is Shchedryk. For Ukrainians it is more than a folk song or a Christmas carol.
